PhotoLucida - Erik Boker

Erik's work was clever, original and really fun to look at. It maybe the scientist in me, but I think this will be quite the field study.

The series is called Project Dissections 1.0
In his words -
This project is an ongoing exploration of the roles of art, nature, the consumer, the institution, product, fabrication, reality, taxonomy, and our relationships with seemingly insignificant objects and materials that affect us daily.

PhotoLucida - Catharine Stebbins

Catharine has created quiet, beautiful pensive images, in a series called certain places , that are a pleasure to experience. Her muted color, soft focus and flowing lines are timeless and elegant.
Keep an eye on this image to the right. We are excited to have it be part of our upcoming art extravaganza, collectible, opening in November.

in Catharine's words -
Feelings of connectedness and ascendancy, anticipation and a little dread, unexpectedly come over me when I find myself in a certain type of place. I love, live for, these energizing feelings. Intuition determines if a given locale is special or just another vacant lot. The right place drives the tedium from my mind and sends me racing into a world of imagination and possibility...These are portraits of the evocative feelings and emotions that overcome me; an invitation to join me where the past coexists with the present, uncertainty mingles with anticipation, and the familiar delivers the unexpected.

PhotoLucida Summer Reviews

just got back from Portland, and it was quite the weekend. Lots of work to see over the course of the 2 day reviews. I was lucky enough to be part of this great event. If you have the chance to participate in the upcoming 2009 reviews - do it! The information is posted on PhotoLucida's website.

over the next posts I will be featuring the work I thought was tops. I am confident there was more, but this is the group that I found or who found me.

Angela Bacon Kidwell

Thanks to a tip from Aline Smithson, I have fallen in love with Angela's work. I am constantly drawn to the work, and every time I look I get another visual treat. For more work, log onto her website. See what you think.
